Mido Ocean Star Datoday Commander

This is a vintage Mido Ocean Star Datoday Commander, quite a long name indeed. Mido founded in Switzerland in 1918 had been known to produce reliable and robust timepieces, and the Ocean Star was no exception. Introduced in the mid 20th century, the Ocean Star Datoday featuring a day and date function was designed to be durable and water-resistant. Like this particular example from the 1970s, the Ocean Star was a call for the growing desire and popularity of sport watches. What sets apart Mido from its other Swiss competitors though was its affordability, producing watches at a lower price point but offering innovative and high-end materials at the time. This means this is your chance to own a vintage Swiss sports watch with lots of provenance and innovation at such an attainable price!

Condition report:
This Mido Ocean Star Datoday Commander is in great working condition, featuring its original dial with a silver chrome finish. There is a visible scratch at the dial bellow the “commander text”. Hands and lume are original and have not been touched up. The case has been polished in the past and the text at the case back has started to fade although is still visible. The crown is original Mido, and the day and date function is working normally.
