Presenting you this vintage Tissot PR 516 GL from the 1970s! Having a long history in the Swiss watch making industry, known for producing high quality timepieces for the best value for money, their reputation had been earned for over 172 years since they were first found in 1853. The watch we have here is in all discern on the reputation the brand had built for more than a century. The “PR” stands for “Particularly Robust”, and “516” refers to the movement calibre origin, while “GL” denotes the specific design of the PR lineup. Aside from the gradient brown dial, alongside its orange second hand, what makes the dial so cool is that the hour indices are actually floating over the main dial, creating a 3 dimensional affect. This was certainly an innovative design especially back in the 70s where it wasn’t commonly seen. The watch also has a gold-filled case which we think suits the gradient brown dial very well creating an elegant but also sporty look. 

Condition report: 

This watch is in overall great condition. The original dial is still in good shape, with visible minor bubbling over the dial’s varnishing in some areas, and a visible scratch below the “516” text. The lume on the dial and hands are original and has never been relumed, with the lume starting to turn creamy brown. The day date features works fine, and the case although had seen some polishing over the years still holds the gold filling fairly thickly with no signs of fading. The watch comes with an aftermarket strap still in good condition, and the movement had recently been serviced, with the movement dismantled, cleaned, re-oiled, and calibrated, and is now keeping good time for a vintage piece.
