—————
Founded in 1914 by Ariste Racine, the brand took its name from the founder’s surname spelled backwards—Racine → Enicar. During the 1950s through the 1970s, Enicar established a reputation for producing exceptionally well-built watches with a strong focus on technical innovation, in-house movement manufacturing, and robust case construction.
This particular Enicar Ocean Pearl Ref. 167.01.26 is a wonderful example of that philosophy. The beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial catches the light effortlessly, and has a 3d effect as it flows differently through light. It is then complemented by applied faceted baton indices, matching luminous hands, and Enicar’s iconic Saturn logo finished with its distinctive gold planet.
Powering the watch is the Enicar Calibre 167C, an in-house automatic movement developed during the brand’s later golden years. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a day-date complication, the Cal. 167 family became one of Enicar’s most dependable automatic movements, combining reliability with straightforward serviceability. It is also one of the few movements in our opinion that looks stunning and is beautifully well decorated in its construction.
