Vulcain having a long history in the Swiss watch making world founded in 1858 Le Locle, Switzerland had been known for their quality and craftmanship with innovative movements. In fact, the name Vulcain became predominantly associated among U.S Presidents with the “Cricket” alarm watch. Although today what we have here is the Kilimandjaro, named after Afrika’s highest peak.
The Kilimandjaro suggests an adventurous and robust spirit featuring its cal. 2789 automatic with durability and robustness. This particular watch has a unique cushion shape case with an attractive champagne dial with a nice patina, which in this configuration is very rare to find. It also features a day and date complication as well, with an overall design that screams the 1970s.
Condition report:
This Vulcain Kilimandjaro is in overall good condition. The original dial has started to age and show its patina, with the varnish on the hour hand starting to come off. The case has been polished and show signs of wear throughout. The strap is an aftermarket leather strap and is still in good condition. The movement has been serviced, oiled, dismantled and is keeping good time, with the day and date wheel working normally.
