The Seiko 6139-6012, affectionately nicknamed the “Bruce Lee,” is one of the brand’s most charismatic vintage chronographs from the early 1970s. Part of the groundbreaking 6139 family among the world’s first automatic chronograph movements, it blends rugged tool-watch capability with unmistakable retro style.
This watch comes with the unusual “speedtimer” black dial and a crowd’s favorite kanji date wheel. Though not the exact watch Bruce Lee would have wore, as his watch would be a Hong Kong spec watch and an early “proof” dial, the watch we have here is an evolution of that watch he wore.
Condition report:
The watch is in overall good condition. The original dial has aged beautifully with some fading on the gold chronograph marker, and showing a mark below the “5 sport” text. The lume are all original on the hands. The case had been lightly polished in the past and is still retaining good shape. The bracelet is an after market replacement bracelet in excellent condition. The movement was recently serviced, dismantled, cleaned, oiled, and calibrated. The watch is not water tested, therefor is no longer water resistant for its age.
